3 Ways To Manage Your Energy
We can’t take care of others if we are not taking care of ourselves.
I was trying to think of what words I could write to make those who are afraid of the current social and political climate here in the US. Nothing I came up with felt like it was helping at all. I’m not a political content creator, I’m a witch. But, to be a witch, I believe, is inherently political. Claiming a word that has so much political weight to it is to strap on that sash that says, “I’m different.”, and in today’s world that can be a vulnerable thing to do. So I’ve decided that what I’d like to contribute are ways to spirituality and energetically protect yourself. I’m going to share some ways we, as witches, can align ourselves with some protection energy so that in all the mud slinging, we can stay clear of the energetic filth that comes with it.
First, I’d like to talk about energy and I feel it works with witchcraft and spirituality. When I splash water in a bathtub, I can see the waves radiating outward toward the edges of the tub, and when they hit the edge the ripple back toward my hand. Think of that and imagine you are in a big grocery store. Someone comes in the door and rushes past you and you can tell they are agitated. Their mood (or energy) is going to slam into you as they rush by. You can feel the air move as they shuffle past you and their face looks upset. You physically and visually can see their energy: the air as they walked past you and their facial expression showed irritation. There’s an unseen part to this interaction: energy. Their energy is irritated as well and for some, that can clash into your energy field and make you feel something. I’m not saying we all are empaths and that you’ll feel mad as well, but I am saying that your energy just touched theirs and like germs, they can make your energy field less than healthy.
So let’s start with energy management and some simple ways to incorporate that into your daily routine.
Energy Cleansing- In the shower, visualize the water cleansing your energy. I ask Water to cleanse me of any energy that would do me harm. I like to ‘see it’ like brownish water being washed from me and going down the drain.
Bubble Up Technique- I visualize a bubble around me, like a crystal ball or something like that. I ask my Spirit Team to fill this bubble up with golden light of protection, to keep my energetic field protected from energies that would do me any harm. If you have a deity you honor, you can pray to them to fill that bubble with their protection. If you aren’t spiritual, then imagine that there’s a light coming from your heart space and push it outward so that the light fills the bubble, this is your own power filling it up.
Herbs & Crystals- You can incorporate some protective crystal jewelry or carry a tumble in your pocket. I like to use Onyx, Black Tourmaline, and Smoky Quartz. I carry a small bag of herbs sometimes as well. Star anise is shaped like a star and can be carried for protection.
These are just a few ways to manage your energy. There’s so many different practices to get to the same result. Do what feels best for you!
Do I do this every day? Nope. I have some serious ADHD and it’s hard for me to stick to a routine. So, the easier I can make it, the more likely I’ll be able to do it consistently. I tend to make things in my routine that I already have to do, like showering, a magical experience. Get creative and see what things you can come up with to manage your energy!
