Witchy Spring Cleaning: Ways to Refresh Your Home and Energy

Happy Spring Witches!

Spring cleaning... but make it witchy! Out with the dust, in with the good vibes!

It’s that time of the year where I really get the itch to clean and rearrange my house! I’m generally not a neat freak and I loathe the idea of doing housework. I’m more of a “I’ll go play in the garden and deal with the dishes later” kind of witch. But there’s something about the way the sunlight feels, the bits of green grass, and the spring song birds that really make me want to roll up my sleeves and clean everything! In order to get some energetic cleaning done too, I often combine the mundane and the magical to make the best of my time. I mean, there’s a whole yard and garden to prep out there! The less time I have to spend inside, the better! So let’s talk about ways we can cleanse and refresh our home’s energy!

Sweeping/Vacuuming With A Magical Touch!

One of the first things I like to do is sweep and vacuum my home. To add a little energetic cleansing to this chore, add a floor sweet mix of herbs beforehand! Sprinkling herbs on your floors like rue, hyssop, or whatever your favorite cleansing herb is beforehand is a great way to have an energetic ‘sponge’ soak up all the nasty dusty energy in your home. I like to hold the herbs first and tell them what I’d like them to do, then sprinkle them all over. It doesn’t have to be a lot of herbs, just a very light dusting. I let them soak while I do a little smoke cleansing around the home. When I’m done with that I sweep and vacuum up all the herbs!

Quick Tip- Throw this in the trash and when you’re all done make sure you take out the trash so that the crappy energy soaked herbs aren’t still in your home.

Surface Cleaners Can Be Energetic Cleaners Too!

I would love to tell you that I make all my household cleansers from scratch, charging them under the full moon and whispering incantations over them—but that would be a lie. I’m just not that ambitious. And honestly? I’m here for the simple hacks. My go-to, cost-effective cleaner is ridiculously easy: Grab an empty spray bottle. Fill it with water and a teaspoon (or less) of antibacterial dish soap. For an energy boost, I add a few drops of essential oils known for their cleansing properties—lemon and peppermint are my favorites. That’s it! Super easy, super effective. And if essential oils aren’t your thing (or you’re allergic), you can toss in a few peppermint leaves and citrus peels instead. It still smells amazing and adds a little extra cleansing magic to your daily wipe-downs. *If you have pets please research what essential oils are safe for them to be around!

Quick Tip- If you want to be a little extra, add some clear quartz chips to the cleaner bottle to amplify whatever energetic cleansing ingredients you added.

Window Witchcraft

My windows end up with half of them having little nose ‘boop’ smudges all over them because of the fur babies peeking out the windows watching for birds or the UPS driver. I’ll need to clean those anyway, so let’s make it witchy. I clean my windows with whatever window cleaner is on sale. But I’ll add some quartz based crystal chips to it (because those are safe to put in water) like smoky quartz for energy filtering, rose quartz to bring love, and citrine to bring in abundance and joy. I do hold these chips in my hand and focus on the intention of each one before plopping them into the bottle. I only use about 6 or so chips of each. You an add however many you’d like though.

Quick Tip- Write sigils on your window cleaner bottle to amplify your intentions.

There are so many things you can do to incorporate your witchcraft and/or spiritual practice into spring cleaning. I hope that this has inspired you to create some witchy cleaning rituals of your own! Just get creative and go for it!
